Advice is fun, catchy unique melody set overtop ornate instrumentation of glockenspiel, toy piano, banjo, and vocoder. The story tells of a girl who takes advice from someone she trusts only to later regret this “good” advice deeply. The moral behind the tale is to be careful whom you take advice from; following one’s advice could lead you to become just like them. Irony sets in with sarcasm as the meaning of “Thank You” changes throughout the song as we see the slow change and development of feelings the girl holds.
