All Good Things

Lyrics

I’m a man who has so much, and I have thrown so much away
I keep on planning for tomorrow instead of giving love today
I’ve been crawling in the dirt when I could be trying on my wings
And giving up instead of giving thanks for all good things

All good things take time and patience and they’re always worth the wait
They may seem to take forever, but they never come too late
We need only to surrender to the Power that pulls the strings
For the gifts that God is giving us are all good things

When I was young my heart was tender and I was not afraid to give
Life was a playground full of love, and that was where I learned to live
But one too many times I felt the pain of falling off the swings
And to protect myself, I closed my heart to all good things

All good things take time and patience and they’re always worth the wait
They may seem to take forever, but they never come too late
We need only to surrender to the Power that pulls the strings
For the gifts that God is giving us are all good things

So in those times when life is hardest, and I’m up against a wall
I reach out to the One who always answers when I call

And I pray, “Dear God, forgive me, for I have kept us far apart.
Will you come back to my life and make your way into my heart?”
And God says, “I’m the sun that shines, the rain that falls, the bird that sings.
I am with you in each joy and every challenge your life brings.
You are a gift I gave the world made up of all good things.”

All good things take time and patience and they’re always worth the wait
They may seem to take forever, but they never come too late
We need only to surrender to the Power that pulls the strings
For the gifts that God is giving us are all good things
