This is a song that is heavily influenced by Erik Satie’s gymnopédies and impressionism. It also takes from Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” 1st movement and Brubeck’s offbeat rhythms (5/4). The minimalist nature of the piece is brought out by the timbre of the piano I recorded it on.
