This song is about the classic Rosie Ruiz scandal of 1980 where she boarded the subway train, got off and won the Boston Marathon. Its a tongue-and-cheek love song to Rosie herself. Lyrics could also be taken in a political context…ala cheating your way to the top and expecting something for free or the state of USA entitlement culture where people and corporations expect free handouts and bailouts.
