Description

This instrumental piece is the final track, and title track, of my debut album. The ensemble is drums, electric bass, piano, string quartet, and some computer-generated sounds. It’s running time is 12:23. The title “Tonic” is a double-entendre, invoking both the medicinal definition and the musical one. The tonic chord (in the major key) is not reached until very late in the piece and it’s arrival, along with all that has led to it and then follows it, is intended to be a sort of emotional medicine.
